"Impossible to come back from the dead unless...?" she prompted, watching him intently. "Look, I know it sounds weird, but if you just find....Odd for me. He'll explain it. He'll make it make sense. He'll know why I'm back!" She sounded frantic and half insane, even to herself, but she didn't quite care. She wanted to find Odd. She had the feeling that was why she was there. "Unless......," he said, trailing off. "Unless something happens. Harry would be able to explain it better. I'm not sure how you would have gotten here. I'm trying to get in touch with him. We're working on it. He'll be able to help. Don't worry. Hold on. I have to take this call." "No," she said, with her hand still over the mouthpiece. "I don't have a cell phone. I'm a wizard. Magic and technology don't mix very well. Every time I've tried to have one, I've broken it. It's fine. Wait. Hold on. I think I hear something." "Dead?" he asked, looking at her incredulously. "What do you mean, dead? Its impossible to come back from the dead. Unless...." He gave her a suspicious look and glanced up towards Butters. "Butters, do you have Harry on the phone yet?" Silently, she shook her head, listening to the phone in her hand ring as she waited on Thomas to answer. "No," she finally said, covering the mouthpiece with her hand. "I'm waiting on someone to answer this damn phone though. If he ever answers the damn thing, he'll be able to help us. To an extent." She shrugged. "Not the person I was hoping for, but I don't think that he's going to call me back anyway. He's a little warry of me because of something that...well, it really wasn't my fault, but it was. Make sense? Anyway, I'm working on it. " He jumped as his cell phone rang from within his pocket. He pulled the phone out, giving the girl a weird look. "Don't try anything funny while I'm on the phone, alright?" He flipped the phone open and frowned, not recognizing the number. "Hello?"
She pressed the phone to her ear and barked, "Hello!" into the mouthpiece. "Sorry!" she hastily apologized. "Thomas? This is Thomas, right? Hi. This is Elaine. I need to talk to you about something."
He turned his attention from the girl to the phone in his hand. He held it away from his head as Elaine's voice shouted at him. "Hello? Thomas Raith here. Elaine? What's wrong? Hello? Can you hear me?" There was a burst of static and he frowned. "Are you there?"
She frowned at the phone in her hand. The static shouldn't be that bad. "Yeah, I can hear you," she replied. "Look, Thomas, I've got a....not really a problem, but more of a situation. And I was hoping that you or Harry could shed some light on it for me. I'm incredibly confused." She tapped her fingers impatiently on the desk, waiting for a reply. After a moment, she realized that he was waiting for her to continue, and said, "there's a guy who showed up at my doorstep claiming that he doesn't know why he's here, but either I'm supposed to help him or he's supposed to help me or something. He seems to think that something big is going to go down, and for the life of me, I have no idea what." He jumped as his cell phone rang from within his pocket.
He sat quietly and watched her, considering. Who was she talking to? Whoever he was talking to, he hoped that it would help. He was feeling rather impatient and hoping that they would be leaving soon. He had to find out why he was with this woman and what he was supposed to be learning from this experience or what he was supposed to be accomplishing. Curious, he tilted his head. "Who are you talking to?" he asked.
She turned to Odd and shook her head. "Thomas," she replied. "Now shhhh, I'm trying to listen." She motioned for him to hold on for a moment. "I'll tell you when I hang up, alright? Just stay put for another minute." She could tell that he was getting impatient and was still trying to determine why. No matter what he said, the situation didn't see that dire. Maybe it was some kind of a trap. No, that would be too obvious. Hm. She frowned again as she started vacantly at him, lost in thought.
"Yeah, it's me," he replied. "What's the matter? There's sort of something going down right now, I really can't talk...." Trailing off, he watched his brother curiously.

"Stars and stones, what is going on here?" (Sorry, transition>)[/quote Thomas glanced to Harry. "About damn time you showed up, isn't it?" he asked. "Let me start with saying that I have no idea how any of this started...... You're going to want to sit down."

She watched the exchange between the newcomers barely breathing, almost as if she was convinced that if she didn't move, they wouldn't remember that she was even there. She knew that something big was about to happen, and damned if she wanted to be there when it did. And there was something off about this Thomas man, that was for sure. She didn't know what it was, but definitely intended to find out.

Harry obligingly crossed the room and perched on the edge of Butters's desk. Looking around the room, he ran his fingers across his shield bracelet absently. Something was going to happen....otherwise Thomas wouldn't have called him there. Thomas obviously knew that something was going down, even though it had been Butters that had called him. Something was clearly wrong. "What the hell is going on here?" he asked looking around at each of them in turn. "And this had better be damned good."

"I have absolutely no idea, honestly," the medical examiner said as he shook his head at Harry. "This girl was dead . I have her file on my desk and everything, she was my next scheduled autopsy. Then all of a sudden, she just decides that being alive is obviously the way to go!"
The threw his hands up in the air with a frustrated sigh. "I was trying to sneak around and get in here to apprehend her when I ran into Thomas, who I've conscripted to help me..." He shrugged, looking beyond flustered. "I just don't know."

He waited with something that could only be infinite patience as Elaine talked to...whoever the hell Thomas was. He felt like he was going crazy. If they didn't manage to get to wherever they needed to go, he might lose his mind. Something was wrong . There was some kind of...something that he needed to fix. Something gave him the feeling that only he could fix it.
